Best Time to Go for Sunset Whale Watching
The best time for a Whale Watching Sunset Cruise in Cabo San Lucas is from December 15 to April 15, with peak humpback activity from late December through March. The tour departs daily at 5:00 PM, offering the ideal golden-hour conditions for calm seas and great whale sightings.
Whales often arrive earlier than the official season. Travelers visiting late November or early December may see early arrivals, including mothers with newborn calves. Contact us for early-season availability.

A Cabo sunset whale watching cruise offers the chance to see a wide variety of marine wildlife. Humpback whales are the most common visitors, but sightings may also include gray, blue, fin, sperm, pilot, and Bryde’s whales, as well as occasional orcas. These species migrate through the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez each winter.

How Big Are the Groups?
Our vessel is licensed for up to 18 passengers, but we intentionally keep groups small, typically 2 to 12 guests, to ensure comfort, safety, and unobstructed whale viewing. Smaller groups also allow for more personalized guidance from our marine biologist team.

Where Do We Meet for the Sunset Cruise?
We will meet at the CaboTrek office 15 minutes before the time of your tour. While in the shop we’ll process your payment or revise your reservation, allow you time to shop around our storefront for any souvenirs, and read up on some of the educational activities you’ll be partaking in that day. We offer free wi-fi, cookies, water before everyone is ready to head to the dock. Then we’ll take a quick 1-minute walk from the shop to the dock. There you’ll board our boat, put on your life vests, be given a complimentary bottle of water, and finally, set out on your evening adventure!
