Your Guided Whale Shark Snorkeling Experience
Our guided whale shark snorkeling tours run twice a week, departing from Cabo San Lucas and heading to the calm, nutrient-rich waters of La Paz Bay. This is where juvenile whale sharks gather each season to feed. Along the way, you will learn about whale shark biology, research techniques, and ongoing conservation efforts while enjoying safe and respectful snorkeling encounters.
This full-day adventure is perfect for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience in Baja California Sur.
Briefing, Gear Setup, and Tour Overview
After a short briefing about whale sharks and the conservation work being done in La Paz Bay, you will be fitted with snorkeling equipment and prepared for the experience. A marine biologist trained in whale shark research will guide your tour as we head into the bay to search for these gentle giants. The in-water portion of the tour lasts about three hours, with snacks and refreshments provided before returning to shore to change and begin the journey back to Cabo San Lucas.

How Big Are the Groups for This Tour?
Our whale shark snorkeling tours operate with 2 to 12 guests, even though the boat is licensed for 18 passengers. We intentionally keep groups small to ensure comfort, safety, and the best overall whale watching experience in Cabo San Lucas.
If you prefer a private outing for your family or friends, you can reserve the boat exclusively or contact us to arrange a private tour.

You may encounter several whale species that migrate through the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, including gray whales, humpback whales, blue whales, sperm whales, fin whales, pilot whales, Bryde’s whales, and sometimes even killer whales.
Cabo San Lucas is also home to incredible marine wildlife. Guests regularly see California sea lions, dolphins, sea turtles, leaping rays, brown pelicans, frigatebirds, and blue-footed boobies during the season.

Where Do We Meet for the Snorkeling Tour?
We will meet at the CaboTrek office 15 minutes before the time of your tour. While in the shop, we’ll process your payment or revise your reservation, allow you time to shop around our storefront for souvenirs and read up on some of the educational activities you’ll be partaking in that day. We offer free wi-fi, cookies, water before everyone is ready to head to the dock. Then we’ll take a quick 1-minute walk from the shop to the dock. There you’ll board our boat, put on your life vests, be given a complimentary water bottle, and finally, set out on your adventure!
